I would like to have some extra income....so I decided to do tutoring.

My Camera~!私のカメラが～！

いかれちゃったのよ、私のカメラ。
My camera got broken the other day.


ジェームスさんにお誕生日のお祝いにもらったカメラ。
It was my birthday gift from James.

レンズが戻らなくなったの。
The lens won't close when power off.


というわけで、今日、ベストバイにもってったら・・・製造元におくられちゃった。
So I took it back to Best Buy, they sent my camera back to Kodak.


５月３日までには戻ってくる予定。
I will be able to have it back by May 3rd.


それまではカメラなし。
I have no camera for a while.


携帯も昔の携帯を使うことにしたので（月々のインターネット使用料金とかもったいないから）。
I switched my cell phone back to my old one.(Because I don't want to pay internet access fee on my cell)


つまらないブログがもっとつまらなくなりますよ。
My boring blog will be getting worse for sure.

Amish Friendship Bread アミッシュフレンドシップブレッド

同僚のＪから月曜日にうけとった種。
I received the batter from my co-teacher J on Monday.


今日はそのバターに小麦粉と砂糖、牛乳をそれぞれ１カップずつ加えて混ぜる日。
Today is Day6 so I have to add 1cup of flour,sugar and milk to the bag and mush them.


ちょっと、１００％完全小麦粉（しかもオーガニック）と粗目、ココナッツミルクを使ったんだけど･･･大丈夫かしら？？？
I used 100% organic whole wheat, raw sugar and coconut milk....I hope it will turn out okay...


このスターターって（もとのバターにはいっているもの）アミッシュのひとしか作り方を知らないらしいよ。だから１０日目に分けるとき、３つのうちの１つは自分のためにとっておくんだって。
According to the instruction that came with the batter, only the Amish knew how to create the"starter"so if you give them all away at Day10, you will have to wait until someone gives one back.


さて、いよいよ日曜日には最後の材料を加えて焼くことになります。
On this coming Sunday, I will be adding the final ingredients and bake!

Lately, I am buying and trying out different brands of Greek Yogurt.

一番すきなのはダノン。
I like the one from Dannon...


ジェームスさんが一番すきなのはトレーダージョーズの。
James's favorite is the Trader Joe's one.


一度食べ始めると、普通のヨーグルトがおいしいって思えなくて・・・。
Since I started to eat Greek yogurt, I can't go back the other kinds...

Big news!!! ビッグニュース！！！

なんて大げさですが、セーラムの皆様。
Sorry...I was exaggerating....but this news is for my friends in Salem.


サウスセーラムにとレーダージョーズがオープンするね～！
It will be opening a new Trader Joe's in South Salem!


今日、仕事前にちょっとセーラムに用があって、そのときに発見したんです。
ずーっと空き店舗になっていた、アルバートソンズ（サウス）。
I had to take care some business in Salem this morning before work and I found this out while I was driving.
It used to be an Albertson's (South). This building has been vacant for a long time.


思わず仕事帰りに、ユージーンの店舗によってしまったわ。
I was so excited to know that there will be a Trader Joe's in Salem....and I had to stop by after work the one in Eugene.

Sunny day! お天気万歳！

今日はいいお天気だったの。シアトルは。
It was very nice day in Seattle today.


４時半にユージーンを出発して、シアトルに着いたのは９時半。
I left Eugene at 4:30am and arrived Seattle at 9:30am.


最初のストップはセーラムで、朝の６時。
My first stop was at Salem to ride with my friend....it was around 6am.


７時にはバンクーバーのサーモンクリークパークエンドライドで他のお友達と合流。
Around 7am, we made the second stop at the park and ride in Vancouver WA to meet with other friends.


目的地にたどり着くまでにもう一度だけ、休憩所でトイレ休憩。
Before we arrived at our final destination, we made the last stop...at the rest area.


みんなでいくとたのしいねー。
It was a fun trip with my friends.


そのとき話題になったのがねこちゃん。話のできるねこちゃん。
We were talking about cats( can talk in Japanese) on you tube.

ペットには癒されるよね。
Spending time with pets make me so relax...


まさくん、かわいいでしょ。

Spam Musubi スパムおむすび

明日シアトルまで行くので、お弁当にスパムおむすびを作ることにしました。
I am going to Seattle tomorrow so I decided to make some Spam Musubi for tmw's lunch.


まず欠かせないのがこれ。（ちょっと意識してライトにしてみましたが）
The main item for Spam Musubi is this.(Well, I got the Lite kind since I am on diet.)

スライスしたらフライパンで両面が狐色になるまで焼いて・・・
Fry slices in a skillet until golden brown on both sides.

そこにこの照り焼きソースかけちゃいます。
And added this teriyaki sauce.

こんな感じ。蒸気でよく見えない。
It is too steamy to see this picture.

まな板の上に焼き海苔をしいて、そこに炊き立てのごはんと・・・
Place a sheet of roasted seaweed on the cutting board and put some steam rice on.

そしてこの隠し味（ふりかけ）をかけて
Sprinkle this secret powder(rice seasoning mix)

そこにスパムをのせると・・・
Cover with Spam!!!

巻いて･･･切って・・・
Roll and slice...

ちがうなー。世の中に出回っているのとはまったくちがうなー。
Well, they don't look like that ones in Hawaii....

今回の活躍アイテムはこれ。
I couldn't make them without this....

プロ顔向けの仕上がり・・・・。

Anyone can make Sushi just like a sushi chef....

Taste of India インド料理のレストラン

私のお散歩コースの一角にあるインドレストラン。
There is an Indian Restaurant on the street where go for my daily short walk.


その名も「テイストオブインディア（インドの味）」
The name of this restaurant is Taste of India.

James and I have been there a several times..FYI their lunch buffet is $8.99


でもさ、バフェスタイルはダイエットの敵だよね。
It is not good place to be if you are trying to lose weight...just like me.


今日は仕事のあとジェームスさんと待ち合わせして、ミルクセーキを飲んだよ。
After work, I met with James and had a strawberry milkshake!

閉店間際で注文したので、車の中で飲む羽目になったけど・・・。久しぶりのデートっぽくってよかったよ。おいしかった。
The cafe closed right after we got our orders so we ended up drinking our shakes in my car....but it was like a date. It was yummy!

It has been a month...一か月がたち・・・

日本でおきた地震から一か月がたったって。
It has been a month since the earthquake hit Tohoku area in Japan.


被災地で苦しんでいられる方がたのことを思いながら・・・・
I am thinking about the people those who are suffering from this disaster.

At Grand-ma's. おばあちゃんのお家で。

今日は一日の大半をジェームスのおばあちゃんとこで過ごしました。
I spent almost all day at James's Grand-ma's today.


こちらがジェームスのおばあちゃん（おばあちゃんのお誕生日のときの写真）。
This is James's Grand-ma(At her birthday party).

手前に写っているのがおじいちゃん。めっちゃ笑顔なのはジェームスさん。
The person on the right corner is Grand-pa. And there is my James with his big smile:-)


お昼にはタコスもご馳走になり・・・
Grand-ma made some tacos for us at lunch.


そしておばあちゃんが「そうそう。この本・・・」て持ってきたのは
When we were chatting after lunch, she got up and said, "oh, wait a minute" off  to her room and brought this book to me.

「窓際のとっとちゃん」じゃありませんか！！！
'TOTTO-CHAN/The little girl at the window' wow~!!!


この本、初版は昭和５７年だよ！私は小学生だった。
First paperback edition in 1982! I was the second grader at the time.


おばあちゃんいわく、ずいぶん前に日本からの留学生をホームステイさせていたときの子が送ってくれたんだって。
According to Grand-ma, she had three exchange students from Japan stayed at her place long time ago and one of them sent her this book.


わー、３７歳にしてアメリカでトットちゃんにめぐりあうとは思わなかった。
I never thought that I would have this book in my hands in America at age 37....
